Climb Indoor and Stay Fit

Indoor climbing and bouldering facilities in Budapest, Hungary. How to stay fit until the next summer.

Oh, those sunny summer days, you are so far away.. Dark afternoons, sad, foggy and rainy days. Winter season is rather wet than snowy in Hungary. Neither the weather is cold nor mountains are high enough, as discussed in the summer post featuring Hungarian climbing sites.

Lucky climbers have the chance to visit the mediterranean region for having some refreshing climbing days. But for the rest coming indoors remains. Hungary is not a climbing nation, relatively few people do this kind of activity. The advantage is that you can feel it like a big family, members are close to and know each other. Climbing club evenings all look like such a birthday party or so, chatting and joking together, drinking a bottle of beer after training at the end. Fortunatelly, we have some fantastic indoor facilities, let me introduce the most popular climbing clubs. Please feel free to join us for some relaxing hours, and to send some tricky movements with us on everyday.

Mountex Bouldering ClubMountex Bouldering Club is the magic place, where things had begun and the fire is being kept burning. Easy reach from Budapest city by the subway no.3 (M3). Aproximatelly, 500m2 wall, 5m wall-height, wide spectrum of wall types, overhangs, roofs and a huge rock imitation in the middle of the hall offer exciting opportunities for destroying your fingers, arms and body within an hour or two. Helpful friends and positive atmosphere, you won't be disappointed. Everest Gym is one of the rare climbing halls of Budapest with roped climbing possibilities. Bouldering wall is also available. Formerly, we had more indoor climbing halls, but they were closed due to lack of interest. One of them, K2 Club simply burned down in a fire accident. Ujjerő Boulder Club is the new born child in the era of indoor climbing in Budapest. Early visitors give very positive feedback. Environment, training and leisure facilities meet the highest needs. Equipments, holds, walls (~300m2) are well designed and brand new. One more reason to go for climbing.

In winter time, for all dedicated climbers it is an important issue to prepare him or herself for the next climbing season both in terms of phisical and psychological skills. Coming to the end of the year it is the right time for self-evaluation. Looking through our performance and development during the past season can be very useful, as based on the analysis new goals can be defined, new methods can be decided. Turning into the new year, keeping and raising the motivation is more than essential. You can find exciting news on bouldering on All Climbing blogs. For useful training tips, it is worth to browse Eric Hörst's Training For Climbing website. So climbers, keep on training! Here comes the sun!
